Residential Peer Educators (RPEs)
Students participating in a residential LC will live on the same floor with the other participants of their LC. Only a few residential learning communities will require PEs to live-in. These RPEs will live on the same residence hall floor with the LC members and create study groups, bonding activities and provide opportunities for out-of-class learning. If you are considering an assignment to a residential community, check with the LC staff to determine if that community requires the PE to live-in. RPEs should expect to work approximately 10-12 hours per week.
Non-residential PEs
Although about half of the learning communities are residential, most PEs will not be required to live-in. The duties are the same as the RPEs, but the PEs will work approximately 3-12 hours per week.
Compensation
Students are hired for either the fall or spring semester only, unless assigned to learning communities that run for the full academic year. Term of fall appointment begins the week prior to Hawk Week until Stop Day. Spring appointments begin the week prior to the first day of classes until Stop Day.
RPEs will receive *free room in the residence hall to which they are assigned.
* All rooms are double occupancy. Traditional halls allow PEs the option to buy-out the other half of the room.
All other PEs will be paid hourly starting at $8.50.
